Hello beautiful people,
On February 19, 2019, I received the news that after seven years of successful remission, the cancer is back in full force. Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. The recommended treatment is a targeted combination of hormone and chemotherapy in pill form.
I have started treatment and I’m hoping to raise money over the next few months to help with my expenses this year. Since February 19, I have missed several days of work already with a biopsy, MRIs, CT, and PET scans, along with numerous doctor appointments here and at UCSF. There will be more of these in my near future. I have two rents each month , utilities, medical expenses in addition to what my insurance will cover, healthy food, and just surviving in Sonoma county as a single woman. To my credit, I have no car payment, no student loans, no mortgage, and no “shopping”debt. Just my every day expenses. I will be able to continue working but I don’t know how the treatment will affect my strength and energy level from day to day. Being able to rest when necessary and spend time with my brothers when they visit will help me to heal as fast as I can and will be very good for my soul. Working for myself has always been a source of pride for me but living hand to mouth while fighting for my life is very stressful and it is my hope to recruit some help in this new adventure so that I can focus all of my energy on healing. Having the extra ‘buffer’ at the end of each month will help give me peace of mind and a sense of well being that I don’t have at the moment. The coming year will be a tough one but easier to survive with the financial assistance. I am reaching out to my friends, people that I know and some that I may not know. Especially other women. Women who will help another woman in need. I will pay this forward if I ever get the opportunity.
Thank you for your help and compassion. No amount is too small.
With love and gratitude,
Kerith
