We are a group of educators from Scarborough, Ontario, Canada.  

We are raising money to sponsor a family of four Syrian Refugees to our community. While we do not yet know which family we will be sponsoring, we are in the process of being matched with one.  

The money will be used to house, feed, care for and support this family in their transition to Canada.  We will be financially responsible for our family for a full year after their arrival in Canada. 

As we have all seen on the news, many Syrian families are in desperate need, living in deplorable conditions in refugee camps in Jordan, Iraq and Turkey or making the perilous journey to Europe to escape the civil war ravaging their country.  The sooner we are able to raise this money, the sooner our family will be able to come to the safety of Canada and be welcomed into the West Scarborough community.  

Bringing a family to Scarborough will allow our West Scarborough community to make a concrete difference in the lives of some of the neediest people in today's world.  We need your help to make this difference!

So please take a moment to donate - your donation will go directly to providing the family with food, housing, transportation, clothing, and school supplies.  Once the family arrives in Toronto, our group will donate our time and skills to also be responsible for settling them : helping them to locate language and job training, helping them to access health and dental care, and integrating themselves into their new community.  You will help to provide this family with a new start in Canada.
