Syracuse Paris Noir Study Abroad

Bonjour, Mes Amis!
I am a rising Junior at Spelman College and was recently accepted to Syracuse University’s Study Abroad program in Paris, France, “Paris Noir,” to study French Literature, Art, and Culture for five weeks this Summer. I have been studying French since the fourth grade and have dreamed of traveling there for years. I am scheduled to depart for Paris in less than two weeks, but I am in desperate need of additional financial assistance. I am the only and first student from Spelman College to be accepted into this program. I am excited to go and come back and share my experience, so other students may, too, participate in the future.
At Spelman, I am an International Studies major with a concentration in Pre-Law and am minoring in French and Music. I have been on the honor roll and Dean’s List during the last two years. This will be my first trip to Europe, and this study abroad program will help me further advance my French language skills and give me exposure to a vastly different and rich culture. I am excited to visit many of the famous sites, such as the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Notre Dame Cathedral, meet new friends, and taste many of the wonderful foods. I am, however, more so excited to have the opportunity to emerged in the French culture and lifestyles of the many groups there. This will help me in my future career, as my aspiration is to practice International Law so that I may assist businesses and individuals in their international legal affairs.
I am requesting assistance for my participation in this five-week program. While I have received some grant funding, it does not come close to covering the expenses. Any assistance you can give will be greatly appreciated and help make this dream and opportunity a reality. No amount is too small or too large. I am so excited and blessed to be able to participate in this program and travel internationally. Thank you and may God richly bless you.
Sincerely,
Gabrielle Castle
