Synsual Healing is the embodied healing platform of Jalisa and Synamin, a New Orleans native and Black herbalist. I am organizing this fundraiser as a friend and client of Jalisa's. I have benefited so much from her healing gifts as she has grown into these skills over the last few years, and I'm honored to be a part of taking her business and practice to the next level.

The story of Synsual Healing, in Jalisa's words:
"Embodied wellness has been a part of my life for at least 24 years now. Prior to the pandemic I had been teaching and performing movement and working in arts education as my primary sources of income, but the pandemic has shifted us away from live performance and in person education, which has allowed me more time to strengthen and continue to study herbal remedies and Indigenous wellness practices, more traditional and embodied paths to wellness. It has allowed me to grow into my role as a healer, in a time when people need other pathways to embodied healing, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. 

We are dedicated to embodied self care and personal wellness.

We come from people who live by the water. New Orleans. Guyana. Ghana.We come from abundance and familial protection, summers full of morning tea turning into pantries of herbs and folk remedies. 

We bring 25+ years of dance and movement training, degrees in Black Studies and Dance Composition, and more than 3 years of studying Afro-Diasporic herbal and traditional care practices. We bring Reiki and Sex Doula certifications, and an understanding of how movement can aid in our healing journeys."

Synsual Healing offers:
- Herbal medicine (3 years of training) - Afro-Indigenous and Caribbean folk remedies and modalities for physical and spiritual care
- Reiki sessions - Level 1 and 2 certification in Heaven on Earth and Isis Reiki, which focus on sexual health and healing sexual trauma, but are helpful in all areas of the body/spirit
- Sex Doula services - healing advocacy and guidance, helping clients navigate their relationship to their sexual health and their embodied wellness.

What will the money go to?
- Business launch expenses: mailbox, legal representation, space rental, small business coaching
- Website launch with online store of handmade herbal and spiritual products
- Training in  current sanitation best practices for food safety, additional herbal medicine training and Sex Doula certifications
- Massage table and other supplies for Reiki and healing Sex Doula work
- Ingredients for herbal products
