As many of you know, my house was broken into earlier this month. It happened while I was away from home for a week, visiting a friend. So much was taken, including my two laptops, my mini-fridge, my bed, the recording equipment that I use for voiceover work, all of my financial documents, including social security information, cherished artwork, luggage, clothes and many, many other things. They also stole my checks, which they used to empty out my bank account before my credit union activated the freeze I requested.
I am taking steps each day to repair and recover the situation. And I know that everything will be okay. I am grateful that I wasn't in the house when they broke in, and I know deep down that I can create anything from scratch. I am also overwhelmingly grateful for and humbled by my friends' love and kindness. Some people have been here for me emotionally, others have opened up their homes to me, and others have even prepared a meal and shared beautiful conversations. Thank you.
Still others have asked if I am in need of any financial help to remain safe while waiting for my next paycheck. And the short but uncomfortable answer is yes. With everything gone and my savings cleared out, I find myself in the very unexpected position of being entirely without money for food, gas, and other necessities. Presently, I am substitute teaching and expect to be paid on September 23rd, 2022. Until that paycheck, I estimate my living expenses (food, gas, rent, bills and sundry items ) will be $1,543.04. I estimate the cost of replacing the appliances that were stolen, like my laptops and refrigerator and other basic items, will be about $3,400. This is how I have set the fundraising amount at $4,944.
If it feels positive, or light, or good to you to help me bridge this time until my next paycheck, and to recover a bit from these losses, thank you. I know that we are all part of the same amazing collective, and everything that is contributed is a part of an ever-expanding set of possibilities that will create so much more into the future. Thank you for reading this. And even if you are contributing energetically, all of it counts. I am very grateful. And grateful you are on the planet.
