Around this time last year, my mother was struggling with balance issues and some vision problems. After consulting with a doctor and running some tests, she was diagnosed with GB (glioblastoma) in the middle of April. Glioblastoma is a fast-growing deadly type of cancer that attacks the brain tissue. The life expectancy for people with such diagnose ranges from one year to a year and a half.
Since her diagnosis, she has endured a craniotomy surgery (opening of the skull), and several rounds of chemo and radiation until her body took a toll on her and she was no longer able to tolerate it.
At the moment, she is at-home hospice care, while my retired dad takes care of her 24/7 along me, my brother and family. However, it has come to a point that she can no longer feed herself, walk, or let alone take care of her basic needs and she has become bend bound.
Despite the pain that this brings onto me and my family, she has an incredible faith. She accepted God and I am fully confident that this is not the end, cancer doesn’t have the last victory. She will be celebrated for loving people well; stranger or not. She is someone that forgave better than most. Someone that defended and took care of others. She was a mother and a sister to many she encountered. Loved by many.
Our family would appreciate your prayers during this difficult time. Many of you have asked in what ways you could better serve our family and many prayer warriors have come alongside. As more hospital bills continue to pile up, we have come to the realization that we cannot meet such financial burden without the help of others. Your contribution will be used 100% towards making arrangements for my mom’s funeral, hospital bills, and medical care until the Lord calls her home. We are humbled by your support throughout this entire journey and we pray that you will consider blessing us. Hace aproximadamente un año, mi madre empezó a mostrar dificultad para mantener el equilibrio y algunos problemas de visión. Después de consultar con un médico y realizar algunas pruebas, ella fue diagnosticada con GB (glioblastoma) a mediados de abril. El glioblastoma es un tipo de cáncer mortal de rápido crecimiento que ataca el tejido cerebral. La esperanza de vida de las personas con dicho diagnóstico es entre un año y un año y medio.
Desde su diagnóstico, ella ha sobrellevado una cirugía de craneotomía (apertura del cráneo) y varias rondas de quimioterapia y radiación. Sin embargo, su cuerpo le pasó factura y llego a un punto que no pudo tolerarlo mas y tuvieron que parar el tratamiento.
Por el momento, ella esta recibiendo la ayuda medica que necesita desde el hogar, mientras que mi padre jubilado la cuida las 24 horas, los 7 días de la semana, junto a mí, mi hermano y mi familia. Como era de esperarse sin el tratamiento, la salud de mi mama ha llegado a un punto en el que ella ya no puede alimentarse por sí misma, caminar o mucho menos ocuparse de sus necesidades básicas. Al día de hoy ella no puede levantarse de la cama.
A pesar del dolor que esto me produce a mí y a mi familia, ella tiene una fe increíble. Ella aceptó a Dios y estoy completamente seguro de que este no es el final, el cáncer no saldrá victorioso. Ella siempre será celebrada por amar bien a la gente; tanto a los extraños como a los conocidos. Ella es alguien que aprendió a perdonar mejor que la mayoría. Alguien que siempre defendió y cuidó a los demás. Fue para muchos una figura materna o de hermandad. Amada por muchos.
Nuestra familia agradecería sus oraciones durante este momento difícil. Muchos de ustedes han preguntado de qué manera podrían apoyar mejor a nuestra familia y muchos guerreros de oración se han unido a la causa. A medida que continúan acumulándose más facturas hospitalarias, nos hemos dado cuenta de que no podemos hacer frente a tal carga financiera sin la ayuda de nuestros amigos y familiares. Su contribución se utilizará al 100% para hacer los arreglos para el funeral de mi madre, las facturas del hospital y la atención médica hasta que el Señor la llame a casa.
