Sylvia King - Brain Cancer

Donation protected

I'm reaching out for my younger sister, Sylvia King, who was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme Grade IV brain cancer on April 28, 2015.  The malignant, aggressive, fast-growing tumors are in operable, due to the location within the brain.

Sylvia is 51 years old and lives in Springdale, Utah, outside of Zion National Park, with her husband and her new puppy, Sydney.  She has lived and worked in the Springdale area for almost 20 years, and was working as a server at Oscar's Cafe until her symptoms worsened to the point she lost coordination on the left side, resulting in difficulty walking and holding trays and drinks.  In addition, she had difficulty understanding customers and co-workers.  She is a loved and respected member of the Springdale community and is missed by everyone, including her regular customers.

We all thought her symptoms were something that could easily be fixed, until we got the bad news!  After a biopsy and hospital stay, Sylvia is currently in the Neuro-Specialty Rehab Program in St. George, Utah.  She continues to have partial paralysis on her left side with limited use of her extremities.  She may never be able to return to work.

The prognosis is not good; however, we are all hoping that with chemotherapy and radiation treatments, the tumors will shrink and prolong her life expectancy.  Sylvia is a fighter and has a strong desire to improve her situation and she is working hard each day to better her life!  Her husband, David, her Dad, her three sisters (myself included), her puppy Sydney, and her extended family and friends are all there with her on a daily basis to help her get out of Rehab and go home, where she wants to be.

With all this in mind, Sylvia can use all the thoughts and prayers that you can offer for her well-being and throughout this long recovery process.  In addition, she can use any amount of money you can provide to assist with her expenses.  She does have medical insurance, but it won't cover all the costs and since we're not sure what the future will bring, we're asking for your help.  During this time, both Sylvia and David, who also works at Oscar’s Café and is on a temporary leave from work, are unable to work, so they have no income.  Sylvia's family will be applying for any financial support that is available to Sylvia, but at this point, we're not sure what she will receive.

Your thoughtfulness will be greatly appreciated!  Please God bless Sylvia, her family, and friends as she goes through this part of her life!
