Sylvia Rose Novak's Next Studio Album

Hello! Thank you for being here.

My name is Sylvia Rose Novak. I'm a multi-instrumentalist (mostly bass and violin these days), songwriter, arranger, producer, and singer. In that order.

From 2014 to 2022 I wrote, recorded, and released a full-length studio album every two years. Since 2022, I've released a handful of singles but have lacked the funding to explore putting another full-length project out into the world.

I've explored less expensive options - like home recording - and there's a reason you've never heard any of those tracks. They don't live up to my standards.

When I write a song, it comes out nearly fully formed. I can hear the instrumentation and arrangement as soon as I can hear the melody and write the words. My songs live and breathe as a sum of the whole; I would rather not release them than have them come to light in a way that isn't true to my vision. The same goes for recording an album instead of a bunch of singles - the flow of a record is magical to me. I love choosing songs that play to one another's strengths and that balance one another. I have pulled songs off of albums that didn't fit my vision for the project as a whole.

All of this to say I *really* care about the listener experience when I'm creating an album. I make art to connect with people. Period.

I've asked for help from friends and family in the past and they have given it to me in spades. But I can't continue to rely on the generosity of a few people. So, I am doing something that I struggle to do; I am asking for help.

I am more excited about this batch of songs than I have been about anything I've written in a long time. I've finally found the line I want to toe, sonically, and I feel like I have finally really learned how to use my voice as an instrument.

Your generosity would move mountains for me. As I've struggled to get my feet back under me as an artist (and a person) I have forgone a lot of opportunities due to lack of funding. When you invest in the arts, you invest in your community - as broad as that may be with the advent of social media.
