Sylvia Miller's Kidney Transplant Journey

My name is Lindsey Bernahl. I am setting up this fundraiser on behalf of a family very near and dear to my heart. I have known the Miller family for many years and am lucky to call Jackie my best friend!

On January 28, 2022, Sylvia Miller and her family (parents Jackie & Andy; sisters Scarlett & Maddy) discovered she was born with just one kidney. Her remaining kidney never fully formed, is damaged and filled with cysts. Her pediatric nephrologist at the Mayo clinic estimated her kidney function at 18-23%. After numerous tests and an extensive transplant evaluation, Sylvia was approved by the Mayo Clinic Transplant Board and added to the kidney transplant list on April 22, 2022. Sylvia is just fourteen years old.

57 days later, on the morning of June 18, 2022, Mayo Clinic called, saying they had an excellent match for Sylvia! This news was both overwhelming and exciting at the same time. That evening, Sylvia received her new kidney.

Sylvia is a strong young lady who is being her brave self as she and her family navigate this new territory. Her family appreciates all thoughts, prayers, love and support being sent their way.

All funds raised from this go fund me will go directly to the Miller Family to assist with accommodations for the family as they relocate to Rochester for at least four weeks during Sylvia's recovery, as well as medical expenses for Sylvia.
