Sylvester needs your help!

Sylvester is a 12 year-old lab mix and long-time resident of Houlagans' Rest, a dog rescue in Powhatan, Virginia. Volunteers noticed a little less than a year ago that he was beginning to limp. He's had a number of vet visits, x-rays and prescription regimes to address the issue, but it continues to progress and his leg is beginning to atrophy from disuse. A recent vet visit recommended a full MRI on his neck, shoulders, and both legs to get at the root cause of the lameness.

We currently estimate the MRI alone to cost approximately $1500, which is a lot for a modest rescue. We'd be so grateful for your help to defray the costs of the MRI for this terrific dog!

You might wonder why we would invest this much in such an old dog? First, depending on the root cause we may be able to undertake an intervention that will help restore significant functionality to his leg, significantly improving his quality of life. Second, Sylvester is an absolute LOVE! He has been the joy of so many volunteers who've had the pleasure of working with him day in & day out. He is part of the Houlagans' Family and gives so much to everyone he meets! Third, he is with a foster family that can help provide the very close monitoring that we anticipate he will need for the foreseeable future, so he's in a great place to get the most out of any treatment.
