Support for Sylas
Sylas is a creative and inventive 14-year-old who loves dreaming up and building incredible things, from robots to custom furniture. He excels in art classes, and when he is not creating, he enjoys playing video games online with his closest friends. After weeks of unexplained back pain, what first seemed like a minor issue quickly turned into every family’s nightmare. X-rays revealed a T6 spinal fracture, and follow-up scans and testing led to the devastating diagnosis of Stage 4 Burkitt Leukemia. Since then, everything has moved incredibly fast. Sylas has already undergone surgery for a port insertion and his first spinal tap, and he is now facing an intense treatment schedule that includes continuous chemotherapy, multiple spinal taps, and bone marrow biopsies. While there has been encouraging news that his initial spinal fluid is clear of leukemia, his recovery depends on how his body responds to this aggressive treatment.
Donations will help give Sylas every possible tool to fight this comfortably and successfully. Support will go toward uncovered medical costs such as deductibles, co-pays, specialized prescriptions, and supportive therapies, as well as travel and commuting expenses for the constant trips between home and the children’s hospital. Funds will also help create a safe and comfortable recovery space at home, keep Sylas connected to his classes and friends through homebound education and technology needs, and ease the pressure on his family as his parents, Amanda and Curtis, stay by his side and care for Sylas and his 3 siblings through this difficult season. Please help if you can. No contribution is too small, and if you are unable to donate, please consider sharing Sylas’s story and keeping Sylas and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
