Somos amigos y compañeros de trabajo de Rafa Topete, y hoy queremos unirnos para ayudarlo a él y a su familia en un momento muy difícil.

La Sra. Gaby, mamá de Rafa, trabajó toda su vida en una ferretería. Hace cuatro años decidió jubilarse para dedicarse a lo que más le apasiona: las artes. Fue parte de un grupo de danza folclórica, después estudió pintura, aprendió música y batería, y más recientemente comenzó con el violín. Su jubilación estaba llena de proyectos y alegría… hasta que un dolor de cabeza inesperado cambió todo.

Tras varios estudios médicos descubrieron que tiene un aneurisma cerebral en una zona muy complicada. Su seguro médico no cuenta con los recursos para atender este tipo de casos y, lo más duro, la lista de espera para un procedimiento sería de más de dos años. Para ella, esperar no es opción.

El aneurisma no se puede operar de forma convencional, porque al intentar separarlo existe un alto riesgo de ruptura.

La opción más segura es un procedimiento endovascular, colocando un divisor de flujo que reconstruye la arteria dañada, aísla el aneurisma del paso de la sangre y evita que siga creciendo o se rompa.

El costo aproximado de la operación es de 900,000 pesos mexicanos. Rafa y su familia están poniendo todo de su parte: venderán su auto, pertenencias y usarán sus ahorros, pero aún así la cantidad es enorme.

Lo positivo es que todavía estamos a tiempo: el aneurisma no ha reventado, y con la operación la Sra. Gaby podría recuperar su vida y volver a hacer lo que más ama. Pero cada día cuenta, y por eso necesitamos actuar pronto.

Urgent Help for Rafa’s Mom

We are friends and coworkers of Rafa Topete, and today we want to come together to support him and his family during a very difficult time.

Mrs. Gaby, Rafa’s mom, worked her whole life at a hardware store and always contributed taxes to the Mexican government to have health care, hoping for a dignified retirement. Four years ago, she finally retired and dedicated her time to what she loves most: the arts. She was part of a Mexican folk dance group, later studied painting, learned music and drums, and more recently began learning the violin. Her retirement was full of projects and joy—until an unexpected headache changed everything.

After several medical exams, doctors discovered that she has a brain aneurysm in a very complex area. Unfortunately, the health system does not have the resources to treat this type of case, and the waiting list for a procedure is over two years. For her, waiting is not an option.

The aneurysm cannot be treated through conventional surgery, because attempting to separate it carries a very high risk of rupture.

The safest option is an endovascular procedure, placing a flow diverter that reconstructs the damaged artery, isolates the aneurysm from blood flow, and prevents it from growing or rupturing.

The estimated cost of the surgery is 900,000 Mexican pesos (about $52,000 USD). Rafa and his family are doing everything they can—selling their car, belongings, and using their savings—but the amount is still overwhelming.

The positive side is that there is still time: the aneurysm has not ruptured yet, and with the surgery Mrs. Gaby could regain her life and continue doing what she loves most. But every day counts, which is why we need to act quickly.
