A couple years ago I began participating in sport called Ice Cross Downhill, better known and made popular by the event Red Bull Crashed Ice (RBCI). Two years ago I won the first female race in St. Paul that advanced me to the World Championships in Quebec, being the only female representing USA at the event. I have been hooked ever since even though it was by chance that I got involved in this crazy sport of ICDH (ice cross downhill).
Ice cross downhill is a winter extreme sporting event. Four skaters dash down an ice track of speeds up to 40 mph as they navigate jumps, drops, steep banks and each other. The main event has broken it down to the top 64 males and top 16 females that compete head to head in a knock out format. Only the fastest two riders will move onto the next round. It is the only sport in the world where athletes race downhill on skates!
This year is the very first time EVER that female athletes have been selected and invited to the tour. The tour is composed of four stops- Canada, Germany, Finland, and the United States. This year Red Bull is actually organizing female races on a legitimate level. We have participated before but never like this. On November 27/28 the tour kicked off in Quebec City. I was knocked out in the semi finals, but my performance landed me a spot as the 3rd American female. I have been invited to join the tour representing the United States on team USA. The next three stops are: Munich Germany- January 8/9 2016 --Jyvaskyla Finland- January 29/30 2016-- St. Paul Minnesota- February 26/27.
Now that I have qualified, my next biggest challenge is getting to these locations. I am reaching out to you and ask if you or your company would consider sponsoring me. This sports momentum has gained interest from the Olympics and the development of an international federation to govern the sport. Hundreds of thousands of spectators will be watching the events throughout the tour so it could be a unique way for you to advertise.
Currently there are 22 international stations with broadcast rights for the Red Bull Crashed Ice World Championships and Ice Cross Downhill generates close to a billion media impressions annually across a variety of platforms. If you decide to sponsor me, your company will have a spot on my equipment to show your support, as well as social media shout outs (see below). To give you an idea of the amount of spectators, last year in St. Paul we raced in front of 140,000 people!
Like I said, my goal is to raise enough money to help cover training, travel and lodging expenses. I would really appreciate it if you would consider being my sponsor for the 15-16 Red Bull Crashed Ice season! You will not only be helping me, you will be helping the women's side of the sport grow!
