It's with great honor that I get to share that I will be going back to school to get my Master's in Performing Arts Administration at NYU.
I'll be continuing my work as a theatre artist with a focus on advocating for artists of color and helping build spaces where our stories are developed and produced with the care and intention they deserve. It's the work I've always known I was meant to do, and graduate school is the next step in being able to do it more fully.
What I didn't anticipate was how much the financial landscape would shift before I even got there. At a recent financial aid meeting, I learned about The One Big Beautiful Bill Act, signed into law in July 2025, which phases out Grad PLUS loans effective this coming July. For many students, that means turning to private lenders with fewer protections and interest rates as high as 18%. It's a reality a lot of us are quietly navigating right now.
I'll be working while in school full time. This fundraiser isn't about covering everything. It's about easing the pressure of those first months so I can actually be present for the experience I worked so hard to get to.
If you're able to contribute, here's what your gift directly supports:
$20 — Everyday academic supplies
$50 — Required textbooks and course materials
$100 — Transportation to and from campus
$250 — 1-2 months of groceries
$500 — A meaningful contribution toward monthly New York rent
$1,000 — A significant step toward tuition and living expenses
And as a small thank you, everyone who donates will receive early access to my arts administration website, where I share more about the work I hope to do and the communities I want to support through theatre.
I'm so ready for what's next. Thank you for walking with me.
Whether you've been in my corner for years or we've only recently crossed paths, thank you. The encouragement, the mentorship, the belief in me has meant more than I can properly say.
