I was born Sydney Wennerstrom. I like to think I was named after Sydney, Australia, but tragically I wasn’t. I am a spontaneous goofball who loves Jesus and the ocean. In 2013, I had the opportunity to travel to Chennai, India with a program called Rising Star Outreach to provide medical care for leprosy patients. This entails washing out filthy ulcers, wrapping what was left of limbs and prescribing medication. This experience taught me about humanity and the extension of unconditional love. God has planted a seed in my heart to serve and bless people around the world. I have been saving my money since the age of 7 for a reason that one day I would discover. All I knew was that I wanted to do something amazing with it!
I have received a wonderful opportunity with a program called “Youth With a Mission” to continue my passion of serving. I will be serving in the “Around the World Mission” program for six months where I will begin my journey in Australia on June 29, 2015 . For 3 months I will be involved in intense Discipleship Training. This consists of learning more about God and His world as well as be practically trained for the outreach phase. The outreach phase enables me to serve people in 5 different continents and I do not find out where I am going until I get there!
I am ready to touch lives and make an impact in the world we live in. I am ready for the unknown and understand facing the possibility of disease and danger. I am ready to be a change agent for my generation and to rise and alter the direction humanity is going.
I am so excited for this incredible journey and for you to all be a part of it! I need YOU to join my team! I have worked and saved to raise 50% of the funds necessary for me to embark on this life changing experience. I am asking for your help through donations to get me the rest of the way there.
