Sydney’s Crohn’s Fight

As many of you know, Sydney has been diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease since the age of 13. Crohn’s Disease is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease that affects the lining of the digestive tract. Many things negatively impact her Crohn’s, therefore making it difficult for Sydney to deal with life on a daily basis.

Since her diagnosis, many medications have been tried, Sydney has travelled all over the country to different hospitals to try and find the help she needs, sadly none of the medications or help received have been able to heal her, she is a rare case. When in the hospital, Sydney usually has to stay for weeks at a time. She is unable to eat or drink and has to be fed through a feeding tube. Previously Sydney was hospitalized for 30 days and once she was discharged she had to be fed by a picc line that was injected in her arm for each meal, and could not eat real food or drinks for over 6 months. This has impacted her college life and mental health greatly. It is nearly impossible for Sydney to live like a normal 21 year old girl in college.

This GoFundMe will help cover medical bills, surgeries and any medications. Over the years Sydney has undergone surgery to remove her appendix and has been hospitalized many times for her Crohn’s. Currently, at the age of 21, Sydney is in the hospital for a bowel obstruction and ileitis, which may lead to her having surgery to remove part of her ileum in her small intestine. She is on an NG tube which is pumping everything out of her stomach and intestine to try and clear the obstruction. The obstruction is causing her intestines to be blocked. Once everything is out of her stomach, the NG tube will then act as a feeding tube, which is how she will get her food. There is no telling the next time she will be able to eat or drink. She is allowed minimal to no movement outside of her hospital bed which is extremely difficult for Sydney to go through. Sydney is the kindest and strongest soul you will ever meet and puts everyone else before her. No one would ever suspect that Sydney is enduring these struggles daily because she never shows her sadness. She wants everyone around her to be happy and bright, just like she is. Every person around her would agree that Sydney is the most genuine, kind hearted, loving, funny and strongest person they know.
