Sydney's Brain Surgery
Donation protected
Dear family and friends,
Our dear brother and friend, Sydney, was recently diagnosed with a brain arteriovenous malformation (AVM). Sydney married his beautiful wife, Efua Nyarku about three months ago and they were about to begin their lives together. Three weeks ago, life turned for the worse when he collapsed and was rushed to the hospital. The diagnosis was that Sydney had suffered a stroke and was bleeding from his brain. The effect of the stroke was partial paralysis on his right side and slurred speech. His recovery from this effect has been slow but steady.
The doctors recommended that an angiogram be performed to determine the root cause of the stroke. The result of the angiogram showed Sydney had an AVM. An arteriovenous malformation (AVM) is an abnormal tangle of blood vessels and veins which disrupts blood flow and oxygen circulation. The AVM is located in a very delicate part of the brain and doctors have recommended brain surgery. This surgery will help close the abnormal connections between the blood vessels, thereby allowing for normal delivery of oxygen to the brain.
Due to the complication of the surgery, Sydney’s options are to fly in a specialist to perform the surgery in Ghana or be flown outside Ghana for the surgery.
Following the surgery, Sydney will require some physical and occupational therapy to get him to his usual self. First, we ask for your prayers that regardless of the option, God keep Sydney safe and help him fully recover. Additionally, we want to raise funds to help support the surgery and postoperative care cost.
Sydney has always been a cheerful, energetic and compassionate individual who always goes out of his way to help others. He has always been a fighter, and we know he will be able to pull through this once he gets the needed care. Please help support him however you can even if it's just keeping him in your thoughts.
100% of all funds raised will go directly to his care.
