Sydney Thompson & Nick Anzalone need your support
Donation protected
Friday night 3/24/23, Sydney exited the house to walk Frankie the Golden Retriever. She woke up outside on the concrete at the bottom of the stairs covered in blood and very confused. Frankie chased a possum and pulled Sydney down the stairs by the leash. It happened so fast, Sydney didn't see it coming. She flew down the whole flight of stairs and hit the concrete with her entire body weight. She was able to call Nick for help and an ambulance took her to Ochsner Main Campus. She celebrated her birthday at midnight in the emergency department that night. The medical team stitched her forehead, performed a CT scan of her brain, MRI of her c-spine, confirmed a concussion, performed x-rays in both arms, and confirmed fractures in both elbows. She was discharged with both arms splinted and a long recovery road ahead. She has been fighting through severe pain, she had to have daily wound debridements, and she is finally beginning her rehab journey in physical therapy for her elbows.
Sydney is a bartender and is unable to work with two broken arms. She and her husband are both in the hospitality industry and have yet to financially recover after the hardships of COVID-19. Without her income, they’re unable to afford their monthly bills. Utilizing Nick's income alone, they are about $1200/month short on their regular bills and now they have medical expenses. Physical therapy alone is the same as their monthly mortgage payment.
They are so grateful that this wasn't worse and that this is a short-term setback but they are so afraid of getting behind on their mortgage. We are humbly asking for support to help them bridge the gap between now and when she can return to work in a few months. Any assistance at all will help them take steps forward, if you can donate $5 it will help. If you're unable to donate we'd be so grateful if you could share their story or send us any guidance on resources we could apply for. We know it takes a village during difficult times and we're grateful to have one.
