Hi there, I’ve found myself in an incredibly difficult situation. In 2023, the transmission on my Ford Taurus completely failed. With a lot of struggle, I was able to get into a 2017 Hyundai Sonata with the hopes of it lasting at least another 5-10 years. Unfortunately, the engine has been running with tiny metal pieces in the oil and has damaged almost the whole motor. I have to either fix it, which is $6,000-8,000 (I still owe $11,000), or get into another car while I can pay this one off as to not ruin my credit, which already isn’t great. I have been able to put together a couple thousand by saving what I can and reaching out to my family, but it’s nowhere near enough to get me out of this hole. I’m at a complete loss, and my husband is currently incarcerated, so he is unable to help me in this situation. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If I lose my transportation, I lose the best job I’ve been able to find, potentially my housing, and can quickly end up in a situation much, much worse than what I’m currently in.
