Being a mother of a young wonderful daughter, as a parent, I would do anything for my child. Unfortunately sometimes a person can only do so much.
So many of you know that my daughter Sydney Adkisson was in a motorcycle wreck on March 21, 2021.
This right here is why I am such a hard ass when it comes to people NOT paying attention to motorcycles! Because of an idiot driver that did not have a clue on how to drive, my kid has suffered for months and will continue to suffer the rest of her life now!
Dont make me get on my soapbox of people NOT having enough insurance to cover your medical bills or any other bills you may acquire, if you are in a wreck (and this goes for automobile wrecks too). So if you take ANYTHING I say today to heart, make sure you check your insurance and to pay that extra (which pisses me off) for people that do not have enough or any insurance at all. It sucks ass, but I dont want others to learn the hard way.
After she arrived at the hospital, she found out what injures she acquired, which was:
Broken right hand
Broken left arm
Broken humerus
Broken back
Injured knee
Crushed mangled right foot
Unfortunately even after several surgeries on her body, her foot did not heal like it should have, so yesterday she had her lower part of her leg amputated.
So with this being said, she is STILL off work with NO money coming in. I never like asking for help if I dont have to for myself, much less my daughter, but sometimes you just cannot do it alone and that is why I am here.
She has acquired over $277,000 in medical bills and that was just out of the hospital before the other surgeries or the amputation surgery. I was told, a prosthetic will cost $16,000. These are costs just for whats going on right now. Who knows what will happen in the future. What I do know is when she is healed, I do foresee her going back to work, because unfortunately, she was denied for disability, but she is one tough cookie, who will not only not let anything hold her back, but she will proudly fight with all her will to return back to a somewhat normal life.
However, right now she needs help. After graduating from the University of Kentucky in May 2020, she had continued to work for Baptist Hospital, but she got a new job offer, which she accepted, at Kosair Shriner Hospital for research that she started on March 15th of 2021. This made her super excited, because this is what she went to college for and it was helping the kids. In case you didn't catch that though, that was one week before her motorcycle wreck. So yes, that means she did NOT have ANY benefits yet at this point. She lost everything!
So this is why I am asking for your help! I know her best friend had did her a gofundme in the beginning and I do thank everyone who helped with that one, but her bills ate that up in less than a month and insurance doesnt pay for everything. Even while waiting to see if there will even be any settlement of any kind, bills keep coming in. If there ends up being a settlement we already know the health insurance is wanting their money back for their costs, because they have put liens out. I’m am just worried about her bills right now though and getting her some help for those. Please help, because I am sorry but I’m only able to do so much and this tears me up inside asking for help. It makes you feel like you are a bad parent.
