Sydney's high performance sailing goals

My name is Sydney Lange. I am 15 years old and attend John O'Connell High School in San Francisco Unified School District. I have been sailing my whole life; my mom used to sail our Yankee 30 with me in a carrier on her chest. I started building my own boat in our garage with my Dad when I was 7.

I started racing opti's when I was eight years old. I have competitively raced FJs, 420s, J22, J70s, opti's, and many other boats. I recently started racing on a Persico 69F in the Youth Foiling Gold Cup series (Miami, Florida), despite my being only 15 years old. I was given an exemption to race before my 16th birthday based on my sailing experience. This was my first trip to race away from home!!! I hope to sail professionally someday on the high-performance circuit, and raising money here will help me achieve that goal. But, unfortunately, we are a big family living in an expensive town. So this racing program is a bit out of my reach.

I am raising money to pay for coaching, regatta fees and travel expenses to the upcoming regattas for the Youth Sailing Gold Cup: YFGC

May 2022: Portoroz, Slovenia

July 2022: Newport, Rhode Island

Aug 2022: Lake Garada, Italy

Special thanks to all the support I have gotten from The Bayview Boat Club, Mariposa Hunters Point Yacht Club, Richmond Yacht Club, and Saint Francis Yacht Club (Where I met my teammates).

My dream is to raise money beyond those regattas and purchase a used high-performance boat in race condition like a Moth or a Waspz.
