Sydelles is that local hole in the wall restaurant that serves the most delicious home cut fries, golden crisp fresh fish and tarter sauce.  Burgers that melt in your mouth and an extensive menu that has won praise and awards around Halifax. This week a devastating blow was suffered by David Nicholson and his staff. Arson destroyed their livelihood. After months of struggling through COVID 19, like many small businesses they were counting on the reopening of restaurants to reestablish themselves. Someone took that from them in a heartbeat.

David is not just a business owner, he is a parent to 4 children, an employer, a volunteer in the community - working with church youth groups, mentoring inner city youth and donating hundreds of meals to shelters.

He is a modest, hardworking individual. His first thoughts were for his children and employees.

My first thought was how can we support him through this difficult time. For 10 years thousands have enjoyed his culinary talents and we want to ensure he can continue to be a mainstay in our community.

In addition to finding new premises, they will need equipment and supplies to reopen and assistance to get through this time until they can start serving their customers again.  There is no insurance and we need the community to gather around this man who has given so freely of his time and talents.
