SYD and KIRK: DaughterStepdad team run NORRA 1000
Donativo protegido
Hello friends!
This is Syd! As some of you might already know, I decided to take on the enormous challenge of racing a 2300-kilometer rally race on a motorcycle through the Baja desert that starts in the north of the peninsula (Ensenada) and finishes at the tip of the peninsula in the south (San Jose del Cabo) at the end of April 2023!
The race is the 2023 Yokohama NORRA Mexican 1000 RALLY, it is a fully-supported on-road/off-road rally open to vintage and modern vehicles. It will be excitement-filled, with high-performance driving, and incredible scenery!
Riding came into my life 16 years ago when I walked into, my now stepdad, Kirk Russell's garage full of motorcycles and race memorabilia - I took one look at his wall of trophies and said 'yeah, I want to do that too!' and so, Kirk and I took to the desert. Through many crashes, ruts, concussions, twisted handlebars, laughs, beers, tires, and tears. Here we are. Getting ready to tackle the Norra 1000 as a team!!
For us to get ourselves and our bike (2022 KTM 350exc-f) on the start line of this race, we need a little help from our friends. We are hoping to raise funds for our bike build-out (the rally navigation system), rally school, gas, tires, moose bibs, specialized rally racing parts, hotel rooms, matching gear (a few sets) and a slick-looking graphics kit for our bike!
We know it takes an army to get a bike across the Baja peninsula, so we appreciate any support that our community can offer. Let us know if you have any questions, or if you would like to be a part of our crazy dream in another way. Any help goes a long way!!
