For many kids, participating in youth sports is a matter of privilege. With costs becoming higher my budget deficit continues to grow year over year. I have had the joy of training these young men over the last 2 years. Currently our soccer practices and games is the only time many of my players even leave the house. The new normal......So far it has provided my kids a sense of of normalcy and most importantly the social interaction with their peers during the pandemic. My program has sustained over the years because of contributions from you!
Even for a sport like soccer, where all you need is a ball and open space, the cost of training and competing can be thousands of dollars a year. That's a lot of money for most families, especially for families of modest means and little or no "disposable" income especially during the pandemic. The Springfield Youth Club in Springfield, Virginia provides opportunities for young people, who don't otherwise have the financial means to pay. Unfortunately, even with scholarships and reduced costs provided by the club, for some families - it's still not enough to cover all the expenses. So, with all that’s going on in the world, why is helping a kid play soccer important enough to give money?
Well, research on youth development is clear; connection to a community, school, and, activities dramatically reduces the chances of delinquent behavior, problems in the classroom and conflict with family. With all of my kids being taught virtually this connection is more important than ever!
It's our responsibility to make sure we are doing everything we can to strengthen those community bonds. Your contribution will help me close the funding gap and support a large group of young boys (22 total), between 7 and 8 years old, whose families are not in a position to cover all the costs to play and train in a competitive soccer environment. We've established a modest goal of $6,000. Please consider the opportunities provided to these young people when you donate.
Thank you!
