SXSW '24 Fundraiser Supporting Camilla and Racquel

Donation protected
Purpose:
We are raising funds to support Camilla Cantu and Racquel Soledad at their first out-of-state music festival! We have a goal to raise $1500 minimum to help cover the costs of travel and stay to participate in the SXSW music festival in Austin, Texas. We will be road-tripping to Texas on Sunday, March 10th, and flying back Sunday, March 17th. All donations will go directly towards the rental car, airbnb, and one-way flights back home.

What is SXSW?
South by Southwest® dedicates itself to helping creative people achieve their goals. Founded in 1987 in Austin, Texas, SXSW® is best known for its conference and festivals that celebrate the convergence of tech, film, music, education, and culture.

Why is this important?
Getting in front of new audiences through live performance is one of the most efficient ways for emerging artists to expand their audience and to gain momentum in their early career. By participating in SXSW, artists receive networking opportunities with other artists (and music industry power players), high-quality performance video and content, and the opportunity to gain new listeners and following. By traveling and participating in the festival, Camilla and Racquel can do all of these things to push their music careers UPWARDS.

Funds Breakdown:
One-Way flights back to Detroit
$120 X 2 artists and 2 supporting musicians = $480
Airbnb Space for 7 days = $700 minimum
Rental Car = $600

Artist Bios
Camilla Cantu
Camilla Cantu is a 24 year old Detroit-based musician, vocalist, music educator, DJ and producer. Her sound explores sonic alchemy channeled through many mediums including guitar, electronic production, and voice to create original, and alluring compositions. A mariachi of ten years, her roots are firmly planted in the Mexican genre but have grown to more modern genres including neo-soul, R&B, Alternative and House. Cantu’s sounds pull from the Latin diaspora, blending them with live instrumentation as well as electronically produced music to create colorful soundscapes that transport listeners to her creative state of mind. In recent years, she has stepped into a music educator role and works closely with children and teens in Detroit; her teaching style emphasizes personal exploration of sounds and rhythms, and encourages students to explore their own individualism through music. She has released three singles; So Far Gone (bolero ballad), Intrusive Thoughts,(R&B), and Neruda (acoustic) that are testaments to her genre bending and blending. Camilla can be found on Instagram @camillacantu, and her professional producing page is @teauxswanx

Racquel Soledad
Racquel Soledad is a 24-year-old, singer, songwriter, and dancer from Metro Detroit with a mission to curate music from the heart that resonates with the soul.
Over the past year, she has explored her sound and amplified her stage presence with her team of backup dancers (Team Sol) to visually bring her stories to life and give the dance community the same opportunities to share their talent on stage. Soledad has blossomed in the Michigan scene not only through live performances but through her drive to connect, learn, and push her boundaries. She is looking forward to this trip to Austin, TX for “South By Southwest” to take it all in and develop as an artist, collaborate and learn from other creatives, and shed her sound, her light, and story with the community exploring SXSW!

We will be also be hosting fundraising events the weekend of March 1st and 2nd. Stay tuned!
