Help for Dan

ONE of South Portland’s finest needs our support.
Daniel O’Carroll, “Dano” to some us old-timers, worked as an officer for South Portland Police Department from February 1978 until he retired in 2003. He proudly served in the Patrol Division achieving the rank of Corporal before retiring. During his career, Dan was called upon to become a CPR Instructor and a Field Training Officer. As with all his assignments, Dan worked hard and provided excellent instruction and guidance to the newly hired officers. His quiet, steady demeanor made him a go-to person for his fellow officers. Dan also worked with the Portland Harbor Master, patrolling Casco Bay. Dan is married to Sue O’Carroll. They have two children, Matthew and Katie, and are proud grandparents to two granddaughters.
In April 2023, Dan was diagnosed with a very aggressive cancer. Thankfully, the Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, Large – B Cell cancer was caught relatively early and Dan’s long-term prognosis is good. He has already had one surgery and is currently undergoing chemotherapy. There is a potential for radiation.
As many of us know, cancer treatment is expensive, and Medicare and Supplemental Insurance fall far short in covering the bills. If you have it in your heart, please support Dan with any amount you can. They are grateful for your help. Please keep him and his family in your prayers. God Bless you.
