St. Martin Hurricane Relief
Donation protected
Hurricane Irma has hit so many families hard. The Rohan and Lake families have lived on St. Martin for over 6 decades. My grandmother, now 82, and her seven sisters built beautiful homes on the island that were shared by their families. In just a matter of a few hours their homes were destroyed. Of the 5 main homes my grandmothers home slide down the hill destroying not only her personal belongings but pictures and family treasures kept for years. Of the other homes the roofs are gone and one is split in half. We are so beyond grateful that she was in the US visiting family at the time of the hurricane but she now only has the items she travel with.
On the island 90% of the buildings have been destroyed, livestock and crops all gone. People are now living on the streets and have resorted to looting the stores for survival. We are so grateful to be living in the US and we hope to be able to give everything we can to help the Rohan and Lake families who live on the island.
In addition to the gofundme account we will be sending cargo containers from New Jersey and Florida with any physical donations that we can collect to help. These islanders have lost everything from clothes and shoes to kitchen supplies and basic living necessities. We hope that other families have remained safe and that we can all pull together to help each other.
