Hey friends, my name is Will. This is my 2005 Subaru Forester that I purchased in March of 2025. I've been having significant car trouble since the beginning of the year, and this car has sadly added to my burden. In the first week of 2025, I was hit by a student driver who totaled my daily. After receiving insurance money from the wreck, I spent a third of the money on a Volvo that lasted 1000 miles before blowing the motor and succumbing to a major oil leak. After that, I spent the remaining two-thirds on this Forester. I drove this car about 1000 miles before a coolant hose split and leaked all of the coolant. This happened when I took the car to Washington, DC, for a trip with my partner. I took the car to a trusted mechanic who replaced the hose and refilled the coolant, but they gave me the bad news that there was coolant that had been gradually entering the engine as a result of amateur repair work that was done by the individual who sold me the car. Because of this issue, the engine does not run properly and will likely need to be replaced with another Forester engine.

I have absolutely no expectations of my friends/community to fund me for these repairs, but seeing as the cost of repairing/replacing the engine as well as getting the car on a trailer back to Asheville will total around or above $1500, it is simply something I cannot fund fully by myself. That being said, if you are in a position to be able to help me even just a little bit through this, I would be truly grateful to you.

This car was supposed to be a powerhouse for me, as it fits all of my music gear for band performances, and it has the capability to take me where I need to go through the mountainous terrain of the area. I had just landed a job in the audio field that requires traveling throughout the WNC area for work, so I am going to be trying my best to get this car back in town and worked on as soon as possible so I can work.
