This past Friday my Mother and best friend JoAnn (Sanders) Evans ended her battle with many health issues. She passed away peacefully on April 24th with my loving wife Lisa and I by her side at Marion Medical in Santa Maria ,CA.
We have lost a very loving, beautiful, caring, supportive and selfless woman. She was the strongest woman I have ever known. She was always there for me through every up and down in my life and never gave up her faith in me. She was a strong single mother since the day my Father and hero Edward Evans passed away in 1987.
She moved to Lompoc, Ca in 1959 and graduated Lompoc High School and Allan Hancock College and was a member of the Alpha Gamma Sigma Honor Scholarship Society. Needless to say she was loved by all and had many, many friends in the local community.
Despite many years of complicated health issues, she devoted her life to to helping others in need. JoAnn was the caretaker for her mother for many years. She assisted many elderly by driving them to appointments and grocery shopping along with feeding the local homeless community.
We are comforted knowing that she is no longer in pain or having any worries with the physical body and world she left behind. She is now with the loved ones who have already made the journey to be with God. We know in our hearts that she is smiling and laughing down upon us with her beloved husband by her side.
At this difficult time in lieu of flowers we are asking for any donations you feel can help cover the cost of my mothers funeral and medical expenses.
The viewing will be at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary in Lompoc, Ca on Monday May 4th from 4-8 with a vigil taking place at 6pm.
Services will be held Tuesday May 5th at the Queen of Angels at 10:00am
She will be laid to rest at the Lompoc cemetary.
We will be having a reception afterwards in the Willows Clubhouse.
