Let's help Daniel!

Hello, my name is Jacky Escandon and here is a summary of our story. On Thursday, 3/23/23, my fiance, Daniel, went to get complete blood work done since he had been feeling off for about 2 days. They quickly referred him to the hospital as his Hemoglobin and platelet levels were low. He was admitted to Valley Regional Hospital in Brownsville, TX. On Saturday, 3/25/23, he was transported via ambulance to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX since they identified from blood work that he might have Leukemia. Upon arrival to MD Anderson, Daniel had a severe nosebleed that didn't seem to stop and because of this, he spent around 4 days in the ICU. It was confirmed that Daniel has a very rare and severe type of Leukemia named Acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL). Luckily, since he is in a cancer center, they see these type of patients more often than other medical centers. Medical staff has also informed us that this specific type of leukemia has a high cure rate, however, it is crucial that he remains under close watch since it causes bleeding. Daniel is stable and is doing much better now, but will be here for about a month or so due to the first month being the most critical due to high bleeding risk. After this, if all goes well, the plan is for Daniel to continue receiving chemotherapy outpatient. Despite Daniel's diagnosis, he remains positive and always gives me the thumbs up when I ask if he’s ok. Any funds donated will be used toward cost of treatment and anything else he might need along the way. Thank you for your support!
