Please Help!! My mom, Beverly Jean Meyer (09/12/1943-03/28/2025)
It all started when the nursing home left her in the bathroom alone as they went to get help since she had mobility issues from being in the hospital recently, treated and released. This day was September 14th, 2024. She fell in the bathroom, and they picked her up from under her arms and flopped her in her wheelchair. I could hear the orderly say, "You made me hurt my back," to my mother!! I believe this is when her femur was broken. So for the next 3 days, she was made to get up, even though she was saying how she was in so much pain. She fell in the bathroom again in the middle of the night on Tuesday morning and told them she wanted to go to the hospital. The orderly flat out told her no. Over 12 hours later, she was taken to the hospital because she was in so much pain. The hospital did not do a full check-up on her and failed to diagnose her broken leg. For the next 8 days, they tried to get her pain under control and put her on a Butrans patch on the 19th of September 2024. The hospital sent her back to the nursing home on the 25th of September 2024. My mom tried not to move because she was in so much pain. The nursing home was barely able to get her to move for the next 8 days, even though my mom was saying she was in unbearable pain, and she had an 8" x 12" hard bruise in her left groin area. The home called the doctor as soon as they were told about the bruise that had been forming for a while. This was October 3rd, 2024. The doctor told me she had a broken femur and that it had been that way for a long time. They put a steel pin about 18" long and 3 screws in her leg. She had to be sedated for the surgery, and it took a long time to completely recover after being sedated. Everyone seemed to think she all of a sudden had dementia, and instead of trying to do PT or any kind of therapy, they wanted to give her more meds that made her out of it and not able to keep her eyes open. They never tried to help her get better, just let her sleep all the time. Since she was sleeping, she was not able to eat. Over the past 5 months, she slowly starved to death. The people at the nursing home just told me this is the way it happens!! They did not remove her from any of her meds for pain after her leg was fixed. They only increased her pain meds. I would love to have an autopsy done, but with no pending investigation, I have no chance of getting one. This is nowhere near the whole story but just the highlights, as it would take all night to put everything that happened and what my mom endured.
