Nick's Lily Pads

Donation protected
Nick Konkler was 4 years old the first time he got sick. The chemotherapy to treat his brain tumor required him to be connected to an IV.
His mom Christina remembers Nick sitting on the bottom of the IV pole while his parents pushed it around Mary Bridge Children's Hospital and Health Center.
Brain tumor long behind him, Nick was 16 and facing acute myeloid leukemia for the second time when he saw a patient riding on an IV platform called a "lily pad" at Seattle Children's Hospital.
He said, "I can make those in woodshop," Christina remembers.
Nick found a pattern for the lily pads but never had the chance to make one. He passed away on February 23, 2015.
Nick was known for his generosity, tenacity and knack for building things. Facing cancer didn't stop him from doing the things he loved — working on his car, building things in woodshop and spending time with his friends.
Once Nick passed away, Christina knew she had to make reality what was one of Nick's dreams... So Christina called Brian Williams at the See Ya Later Foundation and Jim Wickens from woodworking and design class at Auburn Riverside to launch Nick’s project. See Ya Later connected us with Lowe's who then donated the wood and paint to create the pads. The lilypad project is now in ful effect. Nick's Flight Crew has been on King 5 News, Komo 4 News, Kiro 7 News, and the story has gone viral on Facebook with requests from all over the nation! Due to the overwhelming amount of requests for lily pads, we are accepting donations to keep Nick's plan alive! We want to thank everyone for the love and support that we get and know that we appreciate any donation that you are willing to give! For updates on the lily pads visit Nick's Flight Crew on Facebook and for questions please email us at [email redacted].
