medical bills&expenses while out of work

Hello, my name is Edwina and this is why I have created this gofundme page. Back on August 19th I was not feeling right and left work 1.5hrs early. Hoping the pain I was experiencing would go away after some ibuprofen and Tylenol and a good nights sleep…it did not. 

My whole family was gone all day Saturday the 20th as I was still not feeling good I stayed home from work. When he finally returned I begged my husband to take me to the ER where I was told that my appendix had ruptured. After I had my surgery I found out the severity of it all. My surgeon told me that my appendix was perforated and had been “leaking” for what appeared to have been months. Which explains why I was always getting sick and not feeling good. He then proceeded to tell me if I had not been roused by my children coming in when they did (they were gone with their friends) I would have most likely drifted into a coma and died from the rupture as I had gone septic, that is how close and serious this was…He said it was a “total” mess inside and that they had to basically “power wash” me multiple times to get my whole abdomen clean and clear. I was in the hospital for 7 days and now have been off for 5 weeks and was just told last Thursday will not be released for another month. 

Today, I just learned that I do not qualify for short term disability because I was not at my current job for a full year (I was short by just a week) So, now I have lost 5 weeks of pay, after I was told I was going to be receiving short term disability while I am still out, will not be happening. Today I just got my first bill of just shy of $48,000 dollars and that it just the hospital bill (my part after insurance has paid it’s part and I asked if they could help and was given an $11,000 credit) I will not be released for another month to go back to work. I don’t know what to do. Something out of my control has really messed everything up. I never ask for things, but now I am. I am now at risk of losing everything. Please be my Obi-wan Kenobi…You’re my only hope…
