Jake Williams cochlear implant
Donation protected
My son Jake is 26 years old. He was diagnosed with profound hearing loss with no known cause at the age of 5. He was dependant on a hearing aid until the age of 15 when he woke up one day profundly deaf. At that time he was determined eligable for a cochlear implant surgery, which gave him hearing with the assistance of technology.
Jake has experienced many struggles, but is hard working and determined. He qualified for assistance with SSI that helped with some of the expenses over the years but truely wanted to be self supporting without the assisance of the system, leaving it for some that were less fortunate than he. Jake works full time in retail, and is engaged to be married in June. Due to failure of his current cochlear implant device and lack of coverage for hearing by his medical insurance, he is reliant on lip reading in his job.
The cost to replace Jake's cochlear implant is $8000. We are looking to fund this in order to help him in his work place and so that he can hear the ceremony when he marries his lovely fiance, Hilarie, in June. Any amount will help, and all help is greatly appreciated!
