For those of you that know Maggie, the first thing you most likely notice is her smile. It's a smile that instantly gives you a sneak peak into her beautiful soul. If you don't know Maggie well, you would almost never know that she deals with daily struggles that unless you are a parent or family member of a special needs child, you can not possibly understand. She is a natural at smiling through challenging times, making it "look easy", and always putting others needs before her own which fools many as to what she endures daily.
She is a true example of faith, hope, and trust in the Lord. The emotional and physciall toll that caring for a special needs child takes on a HEALTHY person is sometimes too much to bear especially if the primary care giver is the parent, which in Maggies case is the situation, not to mention the costs that are incurred regularly.
Those struggles have just risen to a whole other level as Maggie was diagnosed last week, after some serious health issues involving hospitalization, with Multiple Myeloma, a blood cancer that causes her plasma cells to grow out of control in turn crowding out the healthy cells like red and white blood cells as well as those that maintain bone health.
The medication co-pays alone even WITH medical insurance are almost unimaginable not to mention the many co-pays they already face regularly in caring for a child with cerebral palsy and all that comes with that condition. Maggie has always been the FIRST to offer help and the LAST to ask for it so now it is our chance as her family, friends, and even aquaintences to help ease the burden a bit without her having to ask us so that she can beat this illness and continue to shine her light all around as not only an advocate for special needs children but as a mom, wife, daughter, sister, true friend, and so much more to many.
If you are unable to donate funds please remember that the power of prayer is real and you never know how God may answer a need for this family through your prayer so I urge you to pray for Maggie, Frank, Taylor, Kylie, and their extended family fervently! Lets show this family that we are here and that we are fighting along side of them! Thank you and God bless!
