Stand With Tigray Inc (SWT) is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization founded in November 2020 in response to the Ethiopian and Eritrean governments’ ongoing campaign of committing war crimes and human rights violations in Ethiopia’s northern region Tigray.
Tigrayans remain victims of multiple human rights violations including, enforced telecommunication blackout, mass arrests, and starvation at the hands of Ethiopian and Eritrean governments along with their allied forces. Our mission is to raise global awareness and end the ongoing atrocities Tigrayans are facing using advocacy campaigns.
On November 4th, 2020, the unelected Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali declared war on the Tigray region of Ethiopia. Since then, the people of Tigray remain cut off from the rest of the world with no access to humanitarian aid. The Ethiopian, Amhara, and Eritrean forces continue to block aid from entering those affected by the ongoing atrocities. Meanwhile, the Ethiopian government continues to ethnically profile and arbitrarily mass arrest Tigrayans residing in other parts of the country. Our organization makes it easy for anyone to join the movement against the ongoing atrocities in Tigray by getting involved in social media and fundraising campaigns.
We are currently working to deliver urgent relief to Tigrayans who have been impacted due to the ongoing war. The first round of fundraising will be dedicated to helping our Tigrayan sisters and brothers who migrated to Kenya due to the ongoing war. Even after escaping Ethiopia, Tigrayans in Kenya are being thrown out of refugee camps and taken to unknown locations. Tigrayans in Kenya are currently facing harassment in refugee camps and imprisonments based on their ethnic identities.
SWT is collaborating with Tigray Community Welfare Association(TCWA), a non-profit organization based in Kenya, to relieve some of the urgent financial needs of Tigrayan refugees in Kenya. Food and shelter are currently identified by TCWA as the two most urgent necessities for refugees.
SWT is working to deliver donations to TCWA to accomplish this task. Due to the increasing number of refugees and ethnic-based human rights violations they continue to face, we are reaching out to you for donations. All donations made to SWT will be directed to TCWA to relieve the financial burden of our brothers and sisters in Kenya.
We thank you in advance for your generosity and kind consideration.
