What is South West Multicultural and Community Centre?
South West Multicultural and Community Centre (SWMACC) is a community-based, not-for-profit organisation which delivers tailored-made programs and services specifically for our region’s culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
What are its aims?
SWMACC aims to:
· Provide a place for the community to develop their personal talents and potential through education, experience and support.
· Strengthen, build up and contribute to the identity, self-esteem, sense of purpose and culture of all members of the community.
· Support all community groups (regardless of race, ethno-religious beliefs and practices, sex, marital status, disability, homosexuality, transgender (transsexual) or age, seeking to establish themselves in the community.
How does it do this?
· Hosting community dinners which provide free nutritious and healthy meals, as well as food education and practical cooking lessons
· Providing food relief for those in need
· Holding programs which provide opportunities for young people and women to develop valuable skills and knowledge
· Holding exercise programs and language programs
