My name is Clara and I am a Brazilian filmmaker based in Madrid, currently completing my graduate thesis film.
That film is called Mãe Eterna and it is about my aunt Lydie, who has spent thirty three years in Tennessee building something remarkable. She is a physical therapist, a yoga therapist, a Reiki Master, a breathwork practitioner. Every year she gathers people on her land for a retreat centered around holotropic breathwork, one of the oldest healing practices in the world.
A few years ago, during the hardest stretch of my life, she guided me through it myself. Something changed in me permanently that day. This film is my attempt to share what she has built, and what breath, in the right hands, can open in a person.
Mãe Eterna is slow, observational, and deeply personal. It follows Lydie through one week on her land, her daily rhythms, the people she gathers, and the retreat itself.
If you'd like a sense of the kind of work we make, you can watch my previous documentary Porterra here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTEQ7KenTB0.
Every dollar goes directly into making this film with the care it deserves. If this story moves you, I would be so grateful for your support.
