Dental crisis
Approximately 5 months ago I began to lose teeth. They just broke off and fell out. Prior to that time I had nearly a normal set of teeth. In the Past four months I’ve lost every tooth in my head but three, and those won’t be with me long.
I’ve long been an alumni of the 1963-66 VOL track team. In the awkward position of having to ask for help with the necessary funding to fund the full restoration of my ability to eat. Unfortunately, over the course of my life I have suffered two catastrophic illnesses within a twenty year span. In 1989 I lost my colon to colon cancer and twenty years later opens heart surgery each of these events were without the benefit of health insurance.
Alt the age of 74, and facing a total collapse of my ability to eat, quality of life becomes a significant issue. I had hoped to be able to count on the VA to help find financially, since I was in the Army from 199 to 1969. However neither the VA nor Medicare will cover this crisis.
However, through a former UT track alumni, dentist and good friend, I have an opportunity to preserve a quality of life through the generousity of a colleague of his. As one of the top oral surgeons in his field he is willing to seriously discount his costs if I would allow him to Use me as a teaching subject during one of the professional development courses he teaches to oral surgeons from around the country. It s one of those opportunities that rarely happens.
The only problem is that due to those two epodes that I described, I don’t have the money to participate.
The reason for this funding page is to raise the $25,000 by March 6th to be able to take advantage of this rare opportunity.
