A team of officers from the western division of South Wales Police, Joshua Shaddick - John Shaddick - Richard Jones - Alex Rees - Sean Matthews - Sam Massie - Jordan Friswell - David Tobin - Gareth Thomas, and Nathan Davies, will be undertaking the National Three Peaks challenge on August 12th 2025 with the aim to have climbed the UK’s three Highest Mountains in 24hrs. Starting in Scotland, climbing Ben Nevis in the early hours of the 12th, before tackling Englands Scafell Pike, and finally the mighty Snowdon of Wales. This challenge will be in aid of Ty Olwen and The Megan Mai Foundation. Two charities held close to the officers hearts.
Ty Olwen
The Tŷ Olwen Trust was formed in 1981 with the purpose of supporting the Tŷ Olwen Hospice, a specialist Palliative Care Unit within in the Cancer Directorate of the Swansea Bay University Heath Board. Over the years the Tŷ Olwen Trust has, like the service, developed to support the Home Care Services, Day Care facilities and Hospital based services. Tŷ Olwen Trust are continuously trying to raise additional funds to provide the level of care they feel their Patients and their Families deserve.
The Megan Mai Foundation
The Foundation was created by Megan’s Father, rich, in aid of Megan after she sadly lost her fight to cancer back in 2019. Meg fought her illness first back in 2015, and beat it. However fell ill again in 2018, this time the Leukaemia was far more aggressive. Meg fought an incredibly tough and brave fight, however became so overwhelmed with infections that her body had nothing left to fight with. After weeks spent on Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, her family had to accept the agonising truth that nothing more could be done.
The Megan Mai Foundation aims to supply the most cutting -edge Air purifiers in the world to help children have a better chance of fighting cancer. They also have supplied freezers to the Teenage cancer ward cardiff and supply free meals for the parents on the wards.
