Swimming the Channel in Memory of Uncle Dan

Donation protected
From 8th January for 12 weeks, I will be swimming a total of 22 miles – the equivalent distance of the English Channel – in memory of my Uncle Dan, who recently lost his battle with vascular dementia, shortly before his 59th birthday.

Dementia is a cruel and life-limiting condition, not only for those diagnosed but also for the families who support them every day. This challenge is my way of honouring my Uncle Dan’s memory and raising awareness of a condition that affects so many families.

I am raising money for Dementia UK, a charity that provides vital support to families living with dementia. Dementia UK is best known for its Admiral Nurses – specialist dementia nurses who offer life-changing practical and emotional support. They help families understand the condition, cope with day-to-day challenges, navigate the healthcare system, and feel less alone at what can be an incredibly overwhelming time. Their support continues from diagnosis through to end-of-life care and beyond.

Every donation will help Dementia UK continue to support families facing dementia, ensuring they have access to expert advice, compassion and understanding when they need it most.

Thank you for helping me remember Uncle Dan and support others living with dementia.
