Hi my name is Mel.

I am a big advocate of grass root sport and getting young people active. I am hoping to raise a few quid for Wickersley Youth U13 Reds football team by swimming!

Wickersley Youth U13 Reds are dedicated to youth development and grass roots football, offering opportunities for young boys from all social backgrounds. It's a wonderfully diverse team who demonstrate grit, determination, commitment, friendship and kindness whether they are training, playing or hanging out together. They are close to my heart as my Great Nephew has been part of the team for some years and I have watched him and his buddies blossom.

I am aiming to swim 33,000 meters, the equivalent of the English Channel. It may not seem a lot to any swimmers out there but I am recovering from an ankle injury and as part of my rehab I could only swim 150m at the beginning. I am well on my way to being able to consistently swim over 1000m each time I swim.

So if you can spare a few pounds, me and the lads would be very happy.
