Despite the ceasefire in Gaza, daily life for Palestinians is a struggle we can barely comprehend. Before even thinking of rebuilding, there's a barely functioning health system, no food or shelter at the coldest time of year and basic infrastructure has been destroyed. And life is similarly difficult for their brothers and sisters in the West Bank.
This December, I'm taking leave of my senses and attempting Charlton Lido's Loch Ness Christmas Challenge - swimming 37km (the distance across Nessie's home) over the month in South-East London's finest open-air pool. I thought I'd put this to good use and raise money to benefit the charity Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP). This amazing charity is providing healthcare, clean water, and help for the malnourished across Palestine. Please give generously this Christmas, provide me with the incentive to get into the water every weekday before dawn, and support the Palestinians. Gracias Mil, Feliz Navidad y Palestina Libre.
More information about Medical Aid for Palestinians: Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) works for the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees. We provide immediate medical aid to those in great need, while also developing local capacity and skills to ensure the long-term development of the Palestinian healthcare system.
