Madalina and Jamie are both taking part in the Great North Swim on Sunday 15th June. They will both be swimming a massive 2 miles in Lake Windermere to raise funds for our sponsored charity Homeless Hounds.

Both Madalina and Jamie are not professional swimmers at all. In fact, last February Madalina started lessons to learn to swim and has never done an open water swim before. And will be really out of their depth by taking on this challenge. They have spent the last few months training very hard and building up their fitness in able to complete this swim.

We work closely with a few charities in the area however being Homeless Hounds sponsors and providing veterinary treatment to the dogs, all funds raised will be going to them.

Homeless Hounds is a registered non-profit charity based in Lancashire, UK. They find loving homes for stray dogs who have no-one else to care for them – giving them shelter, health treatment, love and the bright future they deserve. Homeless Hounds is run entirely by volunteers who give their spare time to assist dogs in need. Stray and abandoned dogs that are picked up by the dog warden, only have their kennel fees paid for 7 days by the council. If they are not claimed by their owners in this time, there is no one there to pay for their boarding. Many dogs in this situation are destroyed every day because no one wants them, no one wants to pay for them and the council kennels need the room for the many more stray dogs coming in daily. Homeless Hounds is a group of dedicated people who believe that the unnecessary destruction of healthy dogs is both immoral and unacceptable. Their work is funded by peoples kind donations and their own fundraising events. Their trustees are unpaid and do not receive any expenses, so every penny goes towards saving dogs lives. So its very important we continue to raise funds to help with such a wonderful charity.
