The state of Oaxaca in México was hit by two earthquakes in September. Survivors are living in emergency tents and need toilets. The lack of sanitation pollutes drinking water and kills millions worldwide.
I'm swimming from Spain to Morroco to raise funds for the construction of 100 emergency toilets and also to raise awareness of the importance of sustainable sanitation around the world.
In fact, last year I delivered a TEDx talk in México
about the toilet of the future and I have been working in sanitation-related initiatives there and, now, Europe.
I've partnered with Heifer México which is a local charitable organization working at the Isthmus of Tehuantepec which is suffering from the aftermath of the quakes.
The money will go towards buying the materials to build the toilets and hosting a workshop instructing the survivors on how to build, use and maintain them.
I'm a triathlete and long-distance swimmer and it brings me great joy to use this sport to bring about sustainable sanitation to those in need.

El estado de Oaxaca en México ha sido golpeado por dos terremotos en septiembre. Los sobrevivientes están viviendo en tiendas de emergencia y necesitan inodoros. La falta de saneamiento contamina el agua potable y mata a millones de personas en todo el mundo.
Estoy nadando desde España a Marruecos para recaudar fondos para la construcción de 100 inodoros composteros de emergencia y también para concientizar a importancia del saneamiento sostenible en todo el mundo.
De hecho, el año pasado hice una charla TEDx en México
sobre el inodoro del futuro y he estado trabajando en iniciativas relacionadas con el saneamiento allí y, ahora, en Europa.
Me he asociado con Heifer México, una organización caritativa local que trabaja en el Istmo de Tehuantepec, una región abalada por los efectos de los terremotos.
El dinero se destinará a la compra de los materiales para construir los baños y la celebración de un taller de instrucciones a los supervivientes sobre cómo construir, utilizar y mantenerlos.
Soy triatleta y nadador de maratonas aquáticas y me dá mucho ánimo utilizar el deporte para alcanzar el saneamiento sostenible para aquellos que lo necesitan.
