Swim, Run & Bike for Sight!!
An Ironman length triathlon to support the treatment and prevention of unnecessary blindness!!
Did you know that 4/5 people who are blind don’t need to be? Many of these cases can be treated but unfortunately 90 percent of these situations occur in the developing world and alarmingly, in the remote parts of our own country!
12 months ago I began a Journey from barely being able to ride a bike to aiming to compete in my first ever triathlon (a full Ironman!). Unfortunately COVID 19 has cancelled most races so to put the training to good use, I will be either completing Ironman Australia or, in the event its cancelled completing my own unofficial IM length triathlon right here in Newcastle with the help of some close friends and family on 13 September 2020. Either way, I will be doing the 3.8k swim into a 180k ride and then finally into a 42.2k run in a single effort to support the end of unnecessary blindness by raising funds for the Fred Hollows foundation. A donation as small as $5 can go super long way to help give someone their life back in a time of great challenge and hardship!
