Lake Tahoe Swim to Support Wildlife Impacted by the Australian Bush-fire Crisis
Right now, Australia is burning. The nation is being ravaged by the most devastating bushfire season the country has ever seen.
So far, more than 13 million hectares of Australian land have been burned. That’s equivalent to the size of England. Along with the loss of human life and property, it has been estimated that over one billion animals have been killed nationally to date. This includes thousands of koalas, kangaroos, wombats, wallabies and other iconic species being burnt alive, and many thousands more injured and homeless.
I plan to help WWF get emergency funds to care for injured wildlife and help restore the forest homes koalas and other animals have lost by swimming 34.3km across Lake Tahoe in California this July. The swim is longer than the English channel and at 6,000+ft of altitude.
