Swim 5 Miles for American Cancer Society

Friends and Family,

Thank you for even clicking the link to view this page <3 This July I will be swimming 5 miles to raise funds for the American Cancer Society (ACS)—an organization fighting for a world without cancer.

This cause is deeply personal for me, as I am a cancer survivor myself. In September of 2021 I was told I had a rare cancerous neuroendocrine tumor in my appendix at the age of 23. Hearing this news was difficult and on top of it I was told there wasn't any sort of ‘typical’ treatment that could be done to ensure the shrinkage or the possible spread to be stopped. The spot where my cancer grew, my appendix and later the right half of my large intestine, saved my life. Not everyone has the chance of removing the infected organ without severe life changing outcomes. Getting the opportunity to help support and raise awareness for the chance of furthering research for another person who has to endure this rare form of cancer is a true gift. The fact that I’m still here and able to swim for a cause so near and dear to me is truly special.

Aaaaand good news is…

After two surgeries, and several doctors appointments and scans later (even to this day), I was told I was CANCER FREE!!!! I am now on my way to being 4 YEARS CANCER FREE!!!! HORAY!!!!
