Swiffer's emergency leg amputation

Swiffer the 6 year old Siamese cat is in need of an emergency leg amputation.
On saturday November 23rd he woke me up by yelling in pain underneath my bed. I can only assume he got his leg caught between the wall and the leg of the bed, as there was nothing else under the bed that could have caused this. He very visibly broke his back left leg, possibly in multiple spots.

After a $400 emergency vet appointment just to get some pain meds prescribed and confirmation that his leg was broken, they quoted $1000+ just for xrays to see exactly how broken it was and how many different areas it was broken. The vet did say it felt quite crunchy. I was told that the break was most likely bad enough that there's not going to be anything they can do for it that won't end up leading to a total leg amputation. They told me that the best case scenario will include having external pins surgically placed into his leg, and that it is still high risk. It will need regular cleaning and care and can possibly lead to infection and other issues and eventually could lead to amputation anyways. I was quoted $6-$8k just for this surgery that may not even fix the issue.

We're following up with his primary vet this week, hopefully getting a same day appointment monday morning. This will be to get a price quote for the amputation which will be much more affordable than if it were done by the emergency animal hospital. Swiffer has been prescribed gabapentin and an anti inflammatory that he will be taking multiple times a day to keep him comfortable and as pain free as possible. The vet has him on full bed rest for the next 8 weeks/until amputation. I had to purchase a dog crate to keep Swiffer, his food and water, and his litterbox in it so that he can't run and jump around and decrease his likelihood of injuring himself further. The vet wants him staying in this crate while he heals and likely for a little while after amputation as well until he becomes more acclimated with the loss of his leg.

Any help would be appreciated. Swiffer is a wonderfully affectionate and loving cat and he needs help.

I'll be updating the goal amount after he has his followup appointment with the primary vet to make sure it accurately reflects the amount of the amputation.

My friend Crow has added an etsy album of things to sell to raise more money for Swiffer. If you are interested in beaded jewelry, pins, keychains, etc...please check out https://www.etsy.com/shop/crowhawkcreative?section_id=34240329 to make a purchase for the little guy
