Sweet Boy Gus Needs Help with Vet Bills
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Gus. I could really use some help getting rid of a flesh-eating fungus that is trying to kill me.
This fall my nose started to run and wouldn’t stop. My human took me to three different vets, we tried antibiotics, herbs, nebulizers… nothing worked. One day last week, things went from annoying to very, very scary. Out of nowhere, I started to bleed out of my nose and mouth. It wasn’t just a little blood. I looked like a character from a Quentin Tarantino movie that my human watches on TV. Everyone was very upset. Doctors said that I bled so much I might need to borrow blood from another dog. My human tried to give me some of hers … but they wouldn’t let her. She cried a lot.
I spent a long time in the hospital this time. They did CT scans and shoved cameras up my nose and into my head trying to figure out what was wrong with me. It turns out that I have a fungus inside my nose called Aspergillosis. This fungus is really aggressive. It ate away my flesh and some of the bones in my head. That is why I’ve been so sick and that is why I keep bleeding.
The doctor told my human that it is going to take a long time to get better … if I do get better. I have to take lots of medicine every day for the next 4-6 months (a combination of anti-fungal drugs that make me feel like poop) and make lots and lots of visits to the vet.
And here’s why I’m telling you this story. My human takes very good care of me but sometimes everyone needs a little help. My human has spent every dollar she has trying to make me feel better and will continue to … but I don’t think she has any more.
To kick this fungus to the alley, we need to raise $12,000 for doctors’ visits, meds, hospital stays and procedures and any more blood I need from another dog. Can you help? It would mean the world to my human and to me. If I see you on the street, I promise to carry anything you like. Or at least to make you feel good by saying “HI” as best I can.
